Highland Romance
We gaze out from the hilltop
Arm resting on her knee
Our minds on one another
Please Time, just wait. Just stop.
This sunset view, this lovely place
This moment made for kissing
Entranced, as yellow turns to red
The traffic lights we face.
Her smile I feel instinctively
Infectious with delight
Her hair wisps in my face to brush
As if she’d gone and winked at me!
‘Come on!’ This body language shouts
It’s time to face the music
My eyes stray from the sunset
Let’s throw away those doubts!
And as I think these thoughts of bliss
And momentary pleasure
Her fingers touch my hands to stay
And watch the sunset we might miss.
