Out for a Duck, by Francis Salvesen
The Duck and the ducklings out there on the pond
They Quack to each other and always respond
with love and advice and instructions to follow,
Nipping-out mud, without pausing to wallow.
There’s one little cutie and one to be shot of;
The flock needs to feed, and the bills – there’s a lot of!
And over the water, until they can fly
They swim with their heads and their tails raised up high.
These elegant creatures that feather the nest
Much more than a duvet or well-lined coat vest!
They’re birds of a feather and not at all stuffy
But friendly and furry and young and SO fluffy!
And floating on water, they paddle with charm
A natural sight, in the joys of spring calm.
