Persephone
Frilly lace to thrill a God
A power house of might
But would it not appear quite odd
to turn out all the light?
To sow the seed and grow the crops
As Mother Deems we should
for then the summer never stops
Perhaps misunderstood?
As Hades felt the blast of lust
A urge too sweet and strong
He let Persephone adjust
To what is right and wrong.
His gift of Pomegranate seeds
Was all she had to eat
And we all know where such sin leads
From Freedom to a just defeat!
For Justice is what laws dictate
And young girls cannot choose
to change their minds – it’s much too late
Some Gods you can’t refuse!
So half your life above the soil
in Spring and Summer heat
and half where all the worst souls toil
– be careful what you eat!
Our Futures have such Choices laid
Before that icy shelf.
Choose well before the choices fade
And maximise yourself!
