Royal Pavilion, Brighton
John Nash has his artistic mind on display
The Indian Empire and Saracen Archway
The Domes, a perfection of great architecture
King George the Fourth’s pleasure a princely conjecture
The farmhouse transformed in a splendour of colour
A gift to his Queen and a bow to his Mother
To show that our Pride has a dazzling complexion
A symmetry style with delicious confection
A wonderful sculpture reflecting our glory
A Heritage art that is part of our story
And full of such treasures that craftsmen can craft;
Who view from their windows the citizens bathed
On the great pebbled beaches of Brighton’s south coast.
Where applause is appropriate for such a boast:
That such splendours inspire with awe and mystique
And allow us to praise when we travel and seek
And to own it, to make it, to gaze at its site!
Ourselves, could we spark such a wonderful light?
To build it would cost us some dozens of millions!
Let’s build many landmarks like Royal Pavilions!
